We specialise in ear microsuction

Microsuction is an examination and treatment of the ear using a microscope and specialised equipment, rather like a miniature vacuum cleaner - used to safely and painlessly extract wax from the ear. Microsuction ear wax removal is considered much safer than syringing or other intrusive methods.

What makes us different:

  • Simple, clear pricing

We offer transparent pricing: £85 for one or both ears. This includes consultation, microsuction treatment, and expert advice. There are no hidden or unexpected extras.

  • The best equipment

Unlike many providers, we always use a surgical grade microscope for the best possible view. This is the safest way of working in the narrow ear canal, and close to the ear drum.

  • Highly qualified staff

We only use practitioners who have high levels of experience of treating ears, selected and trained by ENT Consultants.

We are often asked….

  • We recommend a few drops of olive oil in your ears each day before your appointment. This will soften the wax and give the best results from your treatment.

  • We can only treat children under 16 at our Guildford clinic. Please let us know if booking for a child. Patients who are 16 and over can be treated at any of our clinics.

  • We allow 20 minutes for each appointment.

  • In the unlikely event we cannot clear your ears, we will invite you back for a further appointment with no additional charge.

  • Unfortunately, not. We prefer to provide a complete service and examine and clear both ears. Often an ear that doesn’t yet feel blocked will have a wax build up. We can ignore one ear if you ask us to, but this doesn’t reduce the price.

  • Not all microsuction providers offer the same standard of service. Often a cheaper service will cut costs by not using a surgical microscope. Without this expensive equipment, they will not have an excellent view in the narrow and delicate ear canal which significantly increases the risks. When comparing prices, we strongly recommend looking for a provider with a surgical microscope together with highly experienced staff.

  • Yes. Not only is microsuction safe in these circumstances, it is recommended by hospital ENT clinics as a good way to help clear an infection.

  • If you can’t make your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible and we will happily reschedule or provide a full refund up to 24 hours before. If less than 24 hours notice, we may have to charge the full appointment fee due to the difficulty in re-filling the appointment at short notice.

  • It is likely you are coming to EarLab with a troublesome symptom. Unlike non-specialist clinics, our experienced nurses will be able to give you expert advice and direct you to additional services if needed.

  • After discussing your medical history, we will look very closely through a surgical microscope. Often built up wax will be blocking the view to your ear drum in which case, microsuction is the safe way to remove the wax and provide a clear view. Unlike some other methods, microsuction does not present a risk of pushing anything into your ear drum.

  • Yes we can at any of our clinics but please mention when booking.
